Today is the 226th birthday of John James Audubon’s. Google is celebrated this occasion with a nice doodle on John James Audubon birthday. John James Audubon born on April 26, 1785. John was a French-American ornithologist, naturalist, hunter & painter.

John James Audubon was well known for his paintings of 435 varieties of birds in “Birds of America”. The above logo appears to be influenced by his bird paintings. A complete copy of the first edition of “Birds of America” was sold in London, setting a record auction price £7,321,250 ($11.5 million) – for a printed book on Dec. 6, 2010.

Audubon died at his family home on January 27, 1851. Audubon is buried, close to the location of his home, in the graveyard at the Church of the Intercession in the Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum at 155th Street and Broadway in Manhattan.
