A powerful bomb blast took place outside the Delhi High Court gate number 5 on Wednesday morning where round about 200 people were waiting in a line to get passes for entry into the court complex.

More than 45 people injured & 09 killed in this powerful blast that took place at 10:15 am this morning. The injured have been taken to AIIMS, RML and LNJP hospitals. Ambulances and fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

Police say the bomb was kept in a suitcase near a counter where those entering the court get passes made that permit entry into court. The Union Home Minister will make a statement on the blast in the Lok Sabha at 12.30 pm.

This is the second blast in four months in the Delhi High Court premises. On May 25th this year a blast took place in a parking lot near the cafeteria of the High Court, but luckily nobody was injured at that time.
After the bomb blast, panic-stricken people ran helter-skelter as it was chaos at the High Court premises. “I was just 10 metres from the site of the blast,” said Rahul Gupta, a litigant, who was at the reception counter “I saw a lot of people lying around in a pool of blood,” he added.

The injured were rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Safdarjung and AIIMS hospitals.

Doctors at RML said most of the splinter injuries sustained were below the waist level. Some persons also sustained burn injuries.
