This is supposed to be the the steepest hike ever in petrol prices. All state owned petrol companies have hiked petrol prices by Rs 5 per liter i.e straight 8% hike with effects form Saturday (14th May 2011) midnight.
Petrol in Delhi presently cost Rs 58.37 per liter, but now the common man has to shell out Rs 63.75 per liter.
It is to be brought into notice that the hike in petrol prices were announced only after the election results were declared in five assemblies yesterday (Friday, 13th May 2011)
IndianOil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum will hike rates between Rs 4.99 and Rs 5.01 per litre in Delhi with effect from midnight Saturday.
The hike in petrol prices is also followed by increase in diesel and domestic LPG prices i.e diesel Rs. 4 per litre, and LPG Rs. 20-25 respectively.
“The hike needed to make domestic rates at par with international prices was Rs. 10.50 per litre but oil companies choose to hike rates by less than half of that, another hike in petrol price is on cards soon,” – An official said.
I advice here why don’t we charge the increased petrol and diesel amount from Suresh Kalmadi (CWG Scam, Rs 8000) and A Raja (2G scam, Rs 1,70,000 crore), instead of running their trial for years….!!!
